Set Short Date:

The calendar is keyboard accessible:

When the calendar is opened, focus is set on the current year.
Press the Space key to open the Year and Month select fields.
Press the Enter key on the Year or Month select field to save the selected date.
Press Escape to close the calendar without making a selection.
Mouse users can click the desired date buttons as usual.
